Bangkok laundromat guide

Bangkok laundromats: how they work, what they cost, and when not to bother.

Self-service coin laundries are everywhere in central Bangkok and they are genuinely useful. This guide explains how they work and where to find them — then shows what changes when the laundry comes to you instead.

  • Where machines cluster
  • Honest cost comparison

First, the honest bit.

If you are staying a month, live near a coin laundry and do not mind an afternoon with a book, a laundromat is hard to beat on price. Machines are modern, most take cards as well as coins, and many run around the clock.

If you are on a short trip, working, or your nearest machine is a hot fifteen-minute walk with a full bag, the maths changes. Two trips, a wash cycle, one or two dryer cycles and the folding add up to most of an afternoon.

HolidayWash is the other option: a pickup-and-delivery laundry with no shopfront. You hand the bag to reception or your condo desk inside a two-hour window and it comes back washed, dried and folded, at one price per load with free next-day collection and return.

Your three options

Coin machine, drop-off counter, or collection from your door.

All three get your clothes clean. They cost you very different amounts of your day.

Coin laundromat

Cheapest for a single small load and open late. You carry the bag there and back, feed the dryer until it is actually dry, and fold it yourself on a shared table.

Best when you are staying nearby, travelling light and happy to wait.

Drop-off wash & fold counter

An attended shop washes and folds by weight. No waiting on site, but two trips during shop hours and a wait of a day or so.

Best when a shop is on your street and you are in town all week.

Pickup laundry (HolidayWash)

You choose a two-hour window, hand the bag to reception, your condo desk or the door, and it comes back washed, dried and folded. One price per load, paid after delivery.

Best when your time is worth more than the trip — short trips, hotel stays, work days.

Where to look

Where Bangkok laundromats tend to be.

Machines come and go, so check a live map before setting off. This is the pattern across the central districts.

Sukhumvit (Nana to Ekkamai)

Densest cluster in the city. Coin laundries sit inside residential sois off the main road, usually a few minutes' walk from the BTS.

On Nut & Phra Khanong

Long-stay condo territory, so self-service machines are common and often 24 hours.

Silom & Sathorn

Fewer coin shops on the main roads; look in the side sois behind the office towers and along Charoen Krung.

Pratunam & Ratchathewi

Market and guesthouse area with small attended shops offering wash-and-fold by the kilo.

Siam, Chidlom & Ploenchit

Mostly malls and hotels — self-service is scarce here, which is why hotel guests in this pocket usually book collection.

Riverside

Spread out and hotel-heavy. Walking distances are longer than the map suggests.

How it works

Using a coin laundromat in Bangkok.

Roughly the same everywhere, whichever chain you walk into.

01

Load and pay

Check the price on the machine front, load it, then pay at the machine or the kiosk with coins or a card. Detergent is usually dispensed for you.

02

Wash, then move to a dryer

A wash runs about half an hour. Move everything to a dryer straight away — in Bangkok humidity one dryer cycle is often not enough.

03

Fold and carry it home

Folding happens on the shared table, and the bag comes back with you. Allow around two hours on site in total.

Pricing

One bag. One price.

Prefer to skip all of that? One price per load, every package includes free next-day collection and return, and you pay after your laundry is back with you.
